Im Passiv ist die Handlung wichtiger als die Person, die sie ausführt. Das Objekt des Aktivsatzes wird zum Subjekt des Passivsatzes.

In the Passive voice, the action is more important than the person performing it. The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence.

Struktur des Passiv Präsens / Structure:

werden (konjugiert) + ... + Partizip II

Sind diese Sätze in der Vergangenheit? Nein. Beide Sätze sind im Präsens (Gegenwart).

Are these sentences in the past? No. Both sentences are in the Present tense.

Beispiel 1

"An der Kasse wird das Geld gezählt."

"At the checkout, the money is being counted."

Es drückt eine regelmäßige Handlung oder einen Prozess aus, der jetzt stattfindet. Es ist egal, wer das Geld zählt.

It expresses a regular action or a process happening now. It doesn't matter who is counting the money.

Beispiel 2

"Die Lichter werden ausgemacht."

"The lights are being turned off."

Es zeigt an, dass die Handlung des Ausmachens im Präsens geschieht.

It indicates that the action of turning off is happening in the present.

⚖️ Wie wäre das Passiv im Präteritum? / Passive in the Past

Wenn du sagen möchtest, dass das Geld "gezählt wurde" (Vergangenheit), benutzt du das Präteritum von werden (wurde).

If you want to say the money "was counted" (past), use the Präteritum of werden (wurde).

💡 Was drückt das Passiv aus? / What does it express?

Das Passiv wird benutzt:

Wenn das Subjekt (wer handelt) unbekannt ist.
Wenn das Subjekt unwichtig ist.
Wenn der Prozess oder das Ergebnis im Fokus steht.

The passive is used when the subject is unknown, unimportant, or when the focus is on the process/result.
